I felt like this session of figure drawing was probably my most successful, not necessarily because I was happier with the drawings I ended up with after two weeks compared to previous years, but because I felt like I really understand how I can improve and where I need to continue to practice. As always, Tommy did an excellent job of instructing and watching him draw is probably my favorite part of the instruction time. Even if figure drawing isn't my favorite thing, it's a really helpful skill to have so I think I'm going to make an effort going forward to continue practicing and applying the tricks Tommy taught us to my drawings so hopefully I can make drawings that are semi proportionally accurate at some point. I think my most successful part of this was the figure drawing section, because over the course of the first week I could see a lot of improvement in representation of motion as well as just general proportion. I wasn't happy with my really long study, but that was a major learning experience for me so I'm still satisfied. I spent too long too close to the canvas, so the angle I was looking at the drawing was a little distorted and so the figure ended up being not as accurate as I had hoped once I stepped back from it a bit. All in all, I felt like this was a really productive two weeks even if it's not my favorite!
