Home Project Progress Post #1

For my home project, I'm going to continue my current body of work, so I'll continue to focus on pysanky. Instead of doing it on a chicken egg, I think I'd like to explore a larger surface, so I'm going to use a goose or a duck egg instead. I'm still trying to decide what I want to put on the egg and whether I'd like to use more patterns or illustrations on this piece. I think I might try to incorporate more traditional Ukrainian designs on this egg to contrast with the drawings I'll include, but I don't have a subject or a meaning to yet for this project. It would be easy for me to reference geese because it's a goose egg, but I think it's important for me to branch out from just depicting the animal that lays an egg on an egg, like I've done in almost all of my work this year. I'll probably end up leaning towards referencing the cyclical nature of the food chain or some aspect of nature. I already have a few goose eggs to use, but the next step to do before I start applying wax will be creating a design on paper that I can solidify before moving to the egg.
