After the second day of creating a grisaille underpainting, I've started moving past blocking in the general shades and shapes and towards more detailed aspects of the still life. Today I especially focused on capturing the reflections and different tones of the glass and refining the shadows around it. I cleaned up the shape and highlights of the vase as well as the edges of the bowl. I still need to finish painting the pearls then I'll make one or two more passes to add as much detail as possible. I'm really enjoying this project and prefer working with oil than working with acrylic because of its slow drying time and the ease of blending. It's definitely difficult to paint photorealistically, but it's a fun process.
